I loved it! I thought the acting was solid. The story held together, though I haven’t gone back and really thought about where Henry was when like that tattoo girl was hanged or when Uncle Marty was hacked to death… I had no idea who was behind everything until they started to really point to Jimmy. I knew NO WAY it was Jimmy. The sheriff’s dying wish was for his daughter to be with Jimmy…just didnt add up. I also thought they should have killed the kid. COME ON!

I knew Henry was involved when he found Abby and his dying brother on the docks. Henry had blood on him which shouldn’t have been there. I was like “wait a minute, where did that blood come from? Did he just kill his brother?”
All the other red herrings seemed to be too blatant.
And yeah, there was no way it was Jimmy because like you said, Abby’s father would never had allowed her to see him.
Hahaha – yeah, I’m all for killing kids.
And I was sad to see Cal killed. He was my fav.

Thank you. It’s been a very creepy three days. I beg of you, stick to shirtless pictures of Obama, please.

@tae hahahaha I think I can do that…he has been on vacation!
@mary wait, which one was cal? My favorite was the black guy, I cannot believe he lasted as long as he did!! I so thought he would have been the one to draw the short straw and get shot out in the woods. Ohhh…CAL! The doctor. Yeah, he grew on me. But I hated him so much in the beginning. He has got to get his girlfriend to beat up the mean man who wont give him back his ring. waa waa waaa. You just love Brits! I loved the girlfriend’s death. “You can’t have me.” It’s my new “The boy is blameless” ahhhhhh

You know me, give me a man with an accent and I’m happy. I didn’t like Cal much at the beginning too but I thought that he grew up the most during the series. I thought his and his girlfriend’s death scene was one of the most touching in the show.
August 19th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Yeah, but they were also the MOST senseless, right? Like 1. Why didn’t the killer hack her up right away? Why with the caging? He couldn’t have had anything against Cal. He had way more reason to hack up the little girl than either cal or the blond. Then when he sees that cal was willing to die for her, heck why not let the crazy kids live? His heart wasn’t even in it when he stabbed cal. His face was like “sigh, ok, little man if you insist i will stab you now.”

“Then when he sees that cal was willing to die for her, heck why not let the crazy kids live?”
I think that’s why it seemed most touching to me. I actually thought he was going to let them live.
But what was the ultimate goal of all the killing? Get rid of everyone on the island so Henry could be with Abby? If that’s the case, did Wakefield know about Henry’s plan (he really couldn’t because that would be signing his own death warrant) or was he under the illusion that they would kill everyone and then be together as father and son? I watched it during the series run so it’s not that fresh in my mind.
August 19th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Hmm…yeah, it’s not clear what Wakefield’s plan was. Though henry said something about “he chose death, I choose life with my sister” ewwww. Um, so maybe it would have made sense for Henry to kill Cal and the blond…not john…Yeah, no idea what John really wanted.

Oh, funny moment, i’m halfway through the series and I text Alceste “hey, you were right. This show is good” and he writes back “that wasn’t me, it was mary.” hahahaha all white people so look alike!

Zac is gone from the homepage!!! And with two commens on your filmchaw post, he can once again be safely ignored…
August 19th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Well, Alceste is my brother (that’s what I tell folks at the poker table when they ask) so I guess we can look alike.
And yes, I’m glad the “Zac in perspex” photo is gone too.

My one beef with the show was that anyone ID’d as a key suspect died that same episode. It starts to look like J.D. – dead by the end of the hour. It starts to look like Bobby (I forget the sheriff’s name, he’ll always be Bobby from Supernatural to me) – hasta la vista.
Once it got down to Harry, Abby, Trish, and a bunch of second tier characters – it became obvious that it was Harry. (Cal would have been an interesting choice, though – perhaps a foreigner got a little too into stories of famous American serial killers? If not him – making the only black guy on the show the killer would have been the most hilarious thing in the history of television. And I guarantee nobody would have seen it coming.)
Mary – I think Wakefield thought they would all be together as one big happy family, although I don’t remember if he signed off the whole Harry/Abby thing. Wakefield actually seemed less delusional than Harry, so he might have been a little more clear about Abby not really ever seeing things their way.
It sucks that ratings were so bad they won’t do it again. A season-long horror movie is a really cool idea, and it got really good one they’d introduced everyone. Someone tell the Sci-Fi Channel to get on this – they’d kill for the number of viewers Harper’s Island got.

Would they kill one by one? Cause that would seem to be self-defeating…
I totally didn’t recognize the sheriff as Bobby from supernatural. Does that mean he’s off that show now?
Also, the sheriff lingered as a suspect for like three episodes actually…they find his empty bed and then the little demon girl says he kidnapped her…I actually started to think it was the sheriff. Plus, the shot of the sheriff coat firing at the helicopter cops.

If Bobby left Supernatural to join a show where his character got killed and then the show didn’t get renewed, he needs to go Wakefield on his agent.
