Audience Participation…Wednesday?
I’m looking for songs that have clapping interludes in them…like the Friends theme song “Your job’s a joke, you’re broke/your love life’s DOA clap clap clap” Or Veronica Mars theme song “We used to be friends but I, haven’t thought of you lately at all clap clap clap”
Thoughts? Suggestions…oh, and I’m not sure if that’s clapping in Prince’s “I could never take the place of your man” Is it?

Are you missing a clap in the Friends theme?

I’m not sure about clapping interludes but a google search came up with this result:

Thanks for putting “Deep in the heart of Texas…” in my head. Why didn’t you just shoot me.

The fact is that hand clapping is a time tested recording technique for fattening up the snare drum sound on a drum track. So there are tons of songs with hand claps. I assume you meant hand claps as an actual separate part of the song rather than a rhythm accompaniment?

Just about every Busta Rhyme song would qualify, but certainly ‘Make it Clap.’

“That Thing You Do”, from the movie of the same name. Liv Tyler mimed the claps in the movie (My useless tidbit contribution).

“Hey Yaa” by the Black Eyed Peas.
“Jack & Diane” by John Cougar Mellencamp has clapping in it, but I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for.
