Maybe because his blackberry Pearl is a piece of garbage.

He’s not dead for the entire movie although it sounds like he tried to actually die during the filming:

He’s also not dead in “the accidental husband” which was an ok movie (it’s already out on dvd in the UK so cough might be available on the int0rnets)
