Not so random question
Is $45/hr a lot of money for normal people? Or is that a normal amount of money for people? Or is it a slap in the face?

If you work 40 hours each week for 48 weeks, you make $86,400 at $45/hr. That’s more than what roughly 75% of Americans make, and for most folks, it is a lot of money (even in New York).

86,000??? That’s a slap in the face!

My cleaning lady makes $30 an hour. But I think I’m being ripped off.

That’s a lot for normal people. Teachers and cops in New York make about $50K a year, I think.

And yeah, Karol’s probably being ripped off. But not by much.

Most people would be happy to take that slap in the face (although it is a lot less than a big firm job, it’s probably close to or more than a lot of contract attorney work).
And Karol: Are you paying a service or the cleaning lady directly? (Because if you’re paying her directly at that rate, you better pay her social security taxes before you run for office.)

Most people dont have a Las Vegas habit.

Guess you’re just going to have to start winning bigger, then.

Yeah. Sigh. I mean, it’s $60 total, which is a great price, and she’s supposed to clean till she’s done, but she never does a lick of work over two hours. And there’s a lot more to do. You should work like that, Dawn, and your per hour rate will get much higher.

I agree, Karol. $60 is a fantastic price if she’s actually cleaning your whole place. But if she’s not, not so good. Maybe tell her you what you want done every week, regardless of how long it takes her to finish, and ask her what her flat fee would be?

Here’s the question: is it more than you are making now?!
February 11th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
hahaha…but if that were my only concern I would go work at the burger king down the block.

That’s supposed to be the flat fee. And when I ask her to do more she is all no habla ingles. Dawn, you should totally try that! And then sue them when they fire you!

Karol: try this: “Lo siento, pero su trabajo es terminado. Adios.”

February 11th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
Yeah, you should totally spend the week! I have lots of work for you to do here!
Uh, I mean, there’s lots of fun things for you to do here!
February 11th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
