Dell computer
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: DELL SUCKS. DON’T BUY DELL. IF SOMEONE TRIES TO GIVE YOU A DELL FOR FREE, RUN!
Oh and just for shits and giggles, Dell is now charging a “premium service fee” for a “North American technician.” For this fee you will get a “trained professional who will answer your call expertly within minutes.” If you do not pay this fee, you get some dude speaking Bangladeshi who doesn’t know jack about your technical support issue.

My nephew’s Dell laptop just recently died as well as our work Dell laptop. Ours, however, seems to be a battery issue. Hopefully the new battery will fix it up.
All our PCs in the studio are Dells (well, there is an iMac and I do own a Macbook) and other than the laptop, we haven’t had any problems.
We have a local Brooklyn guy who works on computers – I can email you the info when I get to the studio tomorrow.

I’d rather have a Bangaladeshi highly trained computer tecnician who’s thrilled to have the call-center job, than some American doofus with a sense of entitlement who that’s the best job he can get. Honestly, I’ve had great experiences with Indian call people — they are unfailingly polite and helpful and I’ve never had a language issue.

I’ve had very good luck with Dells, but there’s a good local repair shop, and I’m not afraid to work on a computer myself.
