I think it’s only fair that the team with the best record in the league should automatically get a wildcard spot in the playoffs the following year, unless, of course, they win their division; in which case the current wilcard getting rules would apply. These changes should retroactively apply starting with, um, I dunno, whoever had the best NFL record in the 2007 season, whoever on earth that might be…
