HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So, I voted. Nowhere near “First in line” as I wanted. Instead I woke up at nine when Ugarles texted me about crazy lines in the ECB. Then I watched TV coverage of crazy lines everywhere, but still couldn’t motivate. Finally, I was texting with Karol, who endorses McCain today, but Cynthia McKinney yesterday and when she took a while answering after I asked her if she voted already, I panicked that she had and shot out of bed. I quickly got dressed, throwing on my “just gave up” outfit of my high school sweatpants and my “There Will Be Blood” sweatshirt. This last choice would soon provide my election day comic relief. The sweatshirt is crimson red and has the image of a huge yellow oil well on it. When I got to my polling place, I was worried that I was at the wrong place because there were no people anywhere. Happily, once I crossed inside, I saw a gaggle of people. The lady at the front door asked if I knew my polling number (in NYC they jam multiple districts in one location) I said “no, I usually wander around until I figure it out.”
“You don’t have to,” she responded, “just see the gentleman at that table.”
“Thanks,” I said smiley and all friendly-like.
I walked over to the gentleman.
“Sorry ma’am, you can’t wear that shirt in here.”
Now, as you all know, I don’t wear anything under my sweatshirt, so I was a wee alarmed.
“Huh?”
“No campaign attire inside the polling place, I’m sorry.”
I looked down at my clothes and realized that he thought my red and yellow oil sweatshirt was a PALIN/McCAIN shirt!! THE HORROR.
“No, no…it’s a movie. I hate John McCain. Always have. I swear.” I rolled down the bottom of my shirt so he could see the “I Drink Your Milkshake” lettering (and simultaneously hoped he wouldn’t read that as a threat should be still not let me vote.)
He shrugged and said “okay.”
I got on the relatively short line and took my turn changing history. Though I will NEVER NEVER NEVER vote for Yvette Clarke, no matter what they try to do to me.

We have piled furniture in front of the doors and boarded up our windows.
We are now ready for a McCain victory and your visit.

Just got back from voting – insane amount of people. I was #299 in my district. They made the little girl behind me turn her Obama tshirt inside-out.

Did you know that you cannot vote more than once for a candidate? What am I going to do for the rest of the day?

I thought in New York voters can wear campaign paraphanalia, just not campaigners. Isn’t that right?

No, there’s no campaigning within some distance of the polling location and shirts/hats/buttons are considered campaigning.
