Jeebus…do they know that we have google?
The lying lies that the liars lied.
My favorite: MCCAIN: “She’s the commander of the Alaska National Guard. … She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities,” he said on ABC.
THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under “federal status,” which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska’s national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.

The salient fact is that National Guard units are federalized for very specific periods of time, and that isn’t a state’s entire guard, but only specific units within it. The problems of recruiting, staffing, logistics, and a thousand other things are ever present. Even when units are federalized, their ties to their states remain, in that Governors have a lot of de facto say about what the DoD is doing with their troops. So, as usual, your head is up the fat lady’s ass.

Yeah! And Barak Obama was a community organizer, damn it!
Don’t try to tell me that isn’t like… being… commander-in-…
Ahhh, forget it.

They know they can say what they want and it will be repeated and believed if it is simple and appears facially to make sense. If the truth is mildly complicated, and/or involves math, it will be taken, at best, as a good faith difference of opinion on the issues by the media and much of the populace.

Of course, that has been the strategy of the American Left since they slimed Joe McCarthy.

Ah, Joe McCarthy that misunderstood scamp.

I”m not sure what your point is here. Do you believe NG units spend most of their time deployed? I don’t think he was trying to imply she was actually leading them into battle.

Well she did go to Kuwait to visit her troops and she did visit the wounded in the hospitals there.
That was something that Obama was too busy to do.
So yes she has had vastly more military experience than Obama.

Go read McCarthy & His Enemies, you obviously know nothing more about the subject than the NEA approved paragraph in your high school American History textbook.

Once a unit is called up the Governor has ZERO authority over the NG troops. She doesn’t get asked permission and she doesn’t get informed of anything going on with the troops once deployed. Whatever experience being “Commander in Chief” of the guard is, it isn’t foreign policy experience.
And if she is going to claim “executive experience” – and recruiting is her responsibility, according to Casca – she may want to think about doing a better job. The Alaska National Guard is understaffed and at a “crisis level.”
And just what do they do? “On Monday, Guard soldiers transported a woman with an eye injury to Nome for medical treatment. A few days earlier, Guard airmen rescued a man after his plane went down in a spruce bog 57 miles southeast of Galena. And in late July, the Guard was called in to a help a man who’d fallen off the roof of his cabin in the Brooks Range mountains.”

Hey! Don’t make me have to question your patriotism, Ugarles…that woman could have lost AN EYE! AN EYE!
