Dawn’s 2008 music project

Last Spring I conceived a music project where I’d put up a line from a different song each day in the month and then collect them in a post at the month’s end. I started in July — with the theme being songs about relationship autopsies. Of course, with all the problems I had with wordpress and then being in the hospital, I didn’t quite get to publish them all and well, I didn’t finish the post till today. But I’ve started a new music project for September — with a more lighthearted theme and I’ll hopefully, keep up with the post so that it’ll be ready to be published on October the first. (Whoa…October! Where on earth has 2008 gone???)
So here are the songs, artists and the lines I picked:

The last day of our acquaintance
– Sinead Oconner (I know your answer already)
So it Goes – Billy Joel (My silence is my self defense)
Mendocino County Line - Leann womack (Talking about redemption and leaving things behind) (Also, this was the fourth of July song because it talks about fourth of July! I’m so clever.)
Don’t Tear Me Up – Mick Jagger (Dark rooms of sleeplessness)
Never Ever - All Saints (Conversations, hesitations in my mind)
Mad Season – Matchbox 20 (You don’t know me now…I kinda thought that you should somehow)
Stay – Lisa Loeb (I’m only hearing negative)
Keeping the Faith – Billy Joel (The good ole days weren’t always good, and tomorrow aint as bad as it seems) (Also this was the July 7th song…again, master of cleverness, I!)
Why – Annie Lennox (Some things are better left unsaid…But they still turn me inside out)
Walk Away – Pink (When times get hard you always walk away/You get mad and say you’re leavin’)
It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye – Boyz II Men (Its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday) (And this was the July 9th pick! Heh.)
Remind Me – Royskopp (There’s always something to remind me Of another place and time)
Over and Over – Tim McGraw (I think about it over and over again)
Set out Running – Neko (The springs inside the mattress/Where l cry my dirty secrets)
One Day More – Les Miserables (To love another person is to see the face of God) (Bastille Day pick)
Your Child - Mary J. Blige (Gotta face reality, there can never be anymore us)
Anything for you – Gloria Estefan (sometimes things don’t work out right…And you just have to say goodbye)
Daniel - Elton John (Your eyes have died but you see more than I)
Hurt - Johnny Cash (You are someone else/I am still right here)
The Power of Goodbye – Madonna (Freedom comes when you learn to let go)
Purple Rain - Prince (Such a shame our friendship had to end)
Don’t think twice – Bob Dylan (You coulda done better, but I don’t mind…Don’t think twice, it’s alright)
Bright Lights – Matchbox Twenty (I got a scar I can talk about)
I don’t know you anymore – Savage Garden (How do you redefine something that never really had a name?)
Lover, You Should’ve Come Over - Jeff Buckley (too young to hold on
I’m much too old to break free and run) (This song also has the eery refrain “it’s not too late” which I can remember singing in my car with Ari and Karol and then we all three at the same time said “yes, it is.” That memory makes me laugh everytime I hear this song.)
Goodbye My Lover – James Blunt (Remember me, remember us and all we used to be)
Good Riddance – Green Day (For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while.)
Don’t go away mad (Just go away) – Motley Crue (If we blame it on anything, let’s blame it on the rain)
Estranged – GNR (I never wanted it to die)
Atlantic City – Bruce Springsteen (maybe everything that dies, someday comes back) (Who’s our little optimist? Who? Although…in recent weeks I’ve decided that I think the narrator in this song dies…so maybe, not me so much.)
