But the important thing is…she brought home gold medals
With her cheating and lying, Marion Jones did everything she could to violate the principles of track and field and Olympic competition. When she came under scrutiny for doping, she taunted any who doubted her purity, talent and work ethic. Just as she had succeeded in duping us with her performances, she duped many people into giving her the benefit of the doubt.
She pointed her finger at us, and got away with it until federal investigators teamed up with USADA and finally did her in.
And as we stand on the precipice of the ‘08 Olympics, it’s important that our athletes remember that is the most important thing.
Track and Field Cheif asks Bush to deny Marion Jones’ petition for pardon.
Though, why she didn’t wait till Obama took office to file this petition…

But then she had to give the medals back.
Maybe that’s why the U.S. Track people are giving her the Obama’s grandmother treatment.

Whoa! A comment! Did the clear cache thing work? Or…are you people just not commenting on my posts???? Fuckers. And yes, I know she had to give them back, but they still counted for the McDonalds medal sweepstakes at the time. And really, isnt that all that matters?

No ding-dong, clearing the cache isn’t the issue. Your page is still fucked up. Try a little troubleshooting from your end.

Marion is painful for me. When I was in grad school at UNC she was on the basketball and track teams. She was already a medium sized celebrity. (Mia Hamm was on the Soccer team and was a bigger celebrity). From all press accounts she was genuinely nice and worked hard at her sports. I even met her briefly on campus twice. Looked better from a few feet away than on tv, too.
Anyway, for a former Tar Heel to not only cheat, but lie so flagrantly and so often and so piously, sucks.

She only has a 6-month sentence in the first place — how does she think it’ll be commutted in time.
