Pandora

Twice in the last week I have been reminded of the tale of Pandora’s box. How the girl released evil, disease, pain, sorrow and misery into the world because she let curiosity get the best of her. But the legend supposedly says that left behind after all the pestilence was hope. Why is that supposed to be a comforting thought? Evil is let loose, but hope is left behind? Why not let the hope out too?

I knew a girl named Pandora once.

Never got to see her box though…

Even though all of the evil was in the box, Pandora also gave us hope. Hope was in the box along with the evil. So, even though there’s evil in the world, we have hope to help us keep fighting it.

  3. Dawn Summers Says:

Yeah, but according to the legend hope gets left inside the box.

So how does that help fight the evil?

releasing all the evils of mankind— greed, vanity, slander, envy, pining— leaving only hope inside once she had closed it again.

Put hope in one hand, and shit in the other, and see which one fills up first.

Hope ain’t stupid. Hope ain’t going outside with all that crazy crap Pandora let out.
