I am playing Scrabulous with a friend of mine from law school. She played algae in the top left, I bingoed down the triple line with realist and then picked up a rack of adiqstu. I see that there is a triple letter square next to my i in realist, so I figure I will just play qi going both ways. She plays some word over on the other side of the board and I am about to play qi, when I realize that since I have a u, I have more options. I then realize that if I can get a q word to extend down to the double word square, she will be in a world of hurt. I was going to go with quits, but since the d is worth more, I take a chance with quids instead. We are playing “regular” Scrabulous, which means there is no penalty for playing bad words, you just get as many chances as you want to get the word right. Quids is good! For a triple letter score on the q going horizontal, plus a triple letter score on the q hitting a double word score on the vertical line. 105 points! More than my bingo AND I just picked up a rack of aabein? so I’m sure there’s a bingo somewhere in there…or at the very least in my next couple of turns.
Hee. I forget sometimes how much I loved this game. Too late for Nationals though…hmm…I should so get a Scrabble blog.
