Philly Debate
“The Republicans should just apologize for the past eight years and not run anyone” - Hillary Clinton
You know, I liked her performance last night. She was a billion times less bitter sounding than she was at the debate six weeks ago, which is always a thing people look for in their Presidential candidate, especially a woman. No one likes a bitter woman. Barack was also not as grating to me as he usually is. I was intrigued that he stuck by his raising the payroll tax plan, and equally surprised that Hillary stuck to her Iraq pullout plan even if it would destabilize Iraq.
Most importantly, I was impressed by Hillary’s assertion that 1) Obama can beat McCain, something I myself am not sure that he can do and 2) that she will work as hard as she can and “go wherever” she needs to see that one of them takes the oath of office. Wow. With the speed with which leading Democrats have been jumping off teh Clinton ship, I can’t imagine why she or Bill would ever campaign for any of those ungrateful bastards again — especially that dipshit, Casey. She’s a bigger woman than I, I suppose.
If she ends up actually doing it — you know with reputation for honesty and all. Oh, and ugh, please never mention that she is the candidate choice of Wesley Clark, ever ever ever again. Groan.

There is delightful irony in all of this. Neither one of them will bust 45% in the general. Brace yourself, you’re going to be hearing a lot of, “Not since McGovern… .” It’s a little disappointing. If one of them could win, oh the entertainment factor would be high, the pain factor too. Imagine the return to selling the oval office at retail. Ten grand to wipe the books? I’ll take that deal. Then there’s the speculation of what she’d steal this time when moving out… endless entertainment. As for old BO, how long will it take until they start with the fried chicken jokes? Eh, they’ve already started, and no, I don’t know how to get the grease out of the drapes. I doubt that he even likes fried chicken. I read him as more of a sushi eater, but he has hooked himself up to the shake & bake, shuck & jive protestant perversion of theology that is the politics of black Chicago. Ever wonder why Presidents don’t come out of there, or New York with regularity if ever? Nah, me either.

I bet she doesn’t do anything more than some limited appearances.

Maybe she’ll help the way Bill is “helping” her.

But you’re right, if she had been this strong early on she wouldn’t be playing catch-up now.
