    It stands for stupid people rolling double ones to knock two of your pieces out even though you are halfway to filling the thingie on the side and then you not being able to get back in and them winning or in the alternative, it stands for losing by one every time because you cant move your stupid piece six spaces.

    In old sailor slang and thieves cant backgammon meant a “gentlemen’s backdoor game” – oh the poor cabin boy! On whalling ships. typically at sea for three or more years, I’m sure there was plenty of “backgammon” going on in the holds.
