Is it wrong that this makes me feel better?
Unluckiest woman alive faces down California fires
“You get tired of running and nature has ruled my life,” she said. “And taken away my home on many occasions and I don’t want to lose it.”
And maybe, just maybe, standing her ground, looking fate in the eye might break her cycle of bad luck.

Or maybe, mother nature won’t stop until this woman is dead. Did she ever consider that? Probably not, because she is selfish. I bet if she didn’t exist, there wouldn’t have been wildfires or Hurricane Rita. She must be stopped!

Whatever. Her house “almost” burned when she was a kid? Her current house is “in the line of fire”? These are not unlucky disasters. The story could also be titled: “luckiest woman alive survives fire, earthquake, floods.” Call me when her house burns down.

In any case pear, I vote that we call this drama queen Jonah, and throw her ass out of the boat.
For the record, aside from some extra crud to wash off the cars, and the delightful smell of woodsmoke in the air, I found it all quite tolerable. All of the usual slackers had a great reason not to come to work.
