It’s still pretty gay…
but my favorite part of myspace is the embedding songs on your page.
I’ve long been a fan of walking around with headphones — one of my best friend in college referred to it as “Dawn’s life soundtrack.” And as much as I try to sing my life’s soundtrack out loud at every opportunity, the myspace way is a much better way to share the music in my head with everyone I know.
I am currently on a huge Mariah Carey/Carrie Underwood kick (OH MY GOD! Carey…Carrie!) I don’t know why she gave her latest album such a dumb name, but the Emancipation of Mimi ROCKS so hardcore…One & Only and Don’t Forget About Us, being the latest additions to Shake It Off and We Belong Together that cause me to stop everything when they come on and sing and dance…so so good.
And Ms. Underwood’s “Before he Cheats,” well, dahlings, it just speaks for itself.

A partial list of words Dawn should look up . . .
“rocks”
“hardcore”
“music”

“What is this?” Dawn asked, scrunching up her face like Mr. Ick. “Joy Division” both Alceste and I answered. A little later, “And what is this?” she asked making another “what is this crap coming out of my speakers” face. “The Pogues” Alceste said.
“Are you singing along to Nirvana?” Alceste asked Dawn. I kept quiet for a few seconds hoping that she would admit that she was singing along - before telling him that it was me.
I was expecting another “what the hell is this” question when Sonic Youth came on during our slow slog through the Holland Tunnel but was completely surprised by not one comment. Maybe, just maybe there’s hope…

Hi, have you met Dawn?
There’s no hope.

I know there is no hope - that’s why I put the smiley - it’s a sarcastic smiley.
