So does anyone else hate Nina Simone? I mean like ears bleeding please please please jam an icepick into my head just to make this sound stop hate?

No? She’s an icon whose sound is magically unmatched by anyone since the Virgin Mary sang to the baby Jesus in the manger?

Yeah…um…that’s what I think too.

Also, I have been listening to Annie Lennox’s ‘Why’ on repeat (this is evidently what I do on Saturdays in June)…it’s so beautiful and sad, but I have no idea what it means…thoughts?

How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I’m sorry for the things I’ve done
But when I start to try to tell you
That’s when you have to tell me
Hey… this kind of trouble’s only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don’t you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That’s why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me…
Why
Why

I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you’re thinking
And I’ve heard it said too many times
That you’d be better off
Besides…
Why can’t you see this boat is sinking
(this boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let’s go down to the water’s edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me…
Why
Tell me…
Why

Nobody hates Nina Simone. That’s crazy talk.

  2. Casca Says:

Hate is a strong word. Disinterested is more like it. Annie Lennox sounds painful too, in a twisted abusive relationship sort of way. Try a little Diana Krall, very soothing.

Why is a breakup song. From point of view of the breakupee. Translation: “I know I’ve been a jerk, but every time I try to tell you I’m sorry, you just keep coming at me with more shit I’ve done, and telling me you’d be better off without me, to the point that now, even when you’re not saying it, I can tell you’re thinking it. This relationship is so over, but maybe if neither of us says anything about it, we can limp along together for a while longer.”
