I suppose it's a way for the husband to get a kid with his own genes without the wife having to deal with another woman for 9 months. And surrogate mothers might be more expensive than just buying the egg, I guess. But the fact that a well-informed person such as yourself didn't know it would have to have been a donor egg says to me that these stories are really leaving out an important part. Hmm, maybe it's possible it's her own egg if she had some frozen before menopause. But you'd think they'd mention that. Basically, menopause is still a solid bar to fertility in women, and these stories try to make themselves more important than they are by not mentioning that fact. It is DEFINITELY true.
