It's just not practical. I mean, you're 10 years old and coming home from school at 4 only to find mom's already had dinner and you're on your own there. Plus think of how much trouble you could get in to knowing that she'll be fast asleep by 9.

After babysitting my brother's two-year-old for a few hours I can't imagine trying to run after a young child in my sixties.

It is DEFINITELY true. And, exactly. Me, I want my donor eggs pre-growed. Why pay good money for an unfinished product? I suppose it's a way for the husband to get a kid with his own genes without the wife having to deal with another woman for 9 months. And surrogate mothers might be more expensive than just buying the egg, I guess. But the fact that a well-informed person such as yourself didn't know it would have to have been a donor egg says to me that these stories are really leaving out an important part.

Hmm, maybe it's possible it's her own egg if she had some frozen before menopause. But you'd think they'd mention that. Basically, menopause is still a solid bar to fertility in women, and these stories try to make themselves more important than they are by not mentioning that fact.

Is that true? Why would you want to birth someone else's kids at sixty? esp. when you already have your own?

Actually, I'm not sure it's great she has this option. Seems a little selfish to doom the kid to being an orphan by the time it's in its twenties.

Why do they never mention in these stories that these aged mothers are using donor eggs? Which, by the by, they are. I think it's great that there are options out there for people of all ages, but without mentioning that the child will not be genetically related to the mother, it gives the impression that there are more options than there are.
