Big Brother to the rescue!

The Board of Health voted Tuesday to make New York the nation’s first city to ban artery-clogging artificial trans fats at restaurants — from the corner pizzeria to high-end bakeries.

Hooray!

Ok, don’t tell anyone on my other blog…but I like when the government steps in to save me. The prohibition against online poker — wow, that’ll save me at least a grand a year. The smoking ban? Well, should I ever see fit to leave my house and go to a bar or club, I can do so now without the fear of suffocating death.
And now, the government is going to make my meals, just that much healthier. Huzzah!
I mean, if NY would adopt the California policy of posting warning labels on everything from french fries to candy bars, I’d be the picture of health!
Karol’s dad once said that he thinks I’d enjoy prison because they totally regulate everything for you…he might be right…there is TV and poker in prison, right?

    Do Magnolia cupcakes have transfat?

And I want a link to AN as well as IHO in this post pronto.

Trans Fats are found in vegetable shortenings(crisco) and margarines. It has to say “partially hydrogenated” on the label.

I would assume that magnolia uses good old fashioned butter which will be protected under the new laws.

I’m not sure about the poker-one assumes inmates can improvise-but I’m pretty certain they have communal TV sets at most prisons.

Unless you’re at Dannemora, or one of those supermax rigs.

I’m not sure what kind of setup those guys have.

The correctional facility is a pretty good analogy though.

I remember walking past the Virgin Megastore in Union Square a couple of years ago and seeing dozens of smokers standing out in the pouring rain-and freezing cold-clutching their cigs.

    The Ten O’Clock People.

That was the first thing that came to mind.

    People have become such sheep.

You understand that, depending on your hierarchy in the prison social structure, you may have to let others win when playing poker, right?
