Oops, my bad
Police have concluded that a 2-year-old girl was not molested by a neighbor whom the girl’s father is accused of stabbing to death in rage, a police official said Thursday.
Jonathon Edington, a 29-year-old attorney from Fairfield, is charged with killing Barry James on August 28 after his wife told him their daughter had indicated James touched her inappropriately “in the starry night,” police said.

He may be guilty but there is no jury that will convict him.

As long as it’s not a jury from a David E. Kelley show, I think he’ll get convicted of whatever’s one step down from 1st degree murder in Connecticut. Two steps, tops.
Vigilante justice occasionally gets rewarded by juries. Misguided vigilante justice reminds people why that’s illegal.
I am curious, though. What does everyone think the over-under is on how long before the defense mentions that he was molested once as a kid? My prediction is that’s how he’s going to rationalize killing the guy instead of calling the police - because it happened to him and nobody did anything about it, so he knew the only way to protect his daughter was to take the law into his own hands.

Hmm. Wonder what makes the police so confident that the guy didn’t molest her? Weird stuff that girl told her mom. Anyway, dad’s perfectly entitled to whatever bump down he gets for provocation, I suppose, but that’s about it. Most jurors wouldn’t want to be stabbed to death on the whim of a 2-year old’s ability to distinguish truth from imagination. I doubt they’ll let him off entirely.
