Ohhh….did I say Christian? I meant Jewish
Turns out, after telling a reporter that no “to his knowledge they were all Christians,” George Allen actually has a Jewish grandmother.
And, boy is he psyched.
In his statement Allen wrote, “I was raised as a Christian, and my mother was raised as a Christian. And I embrace and take great pride in every aspect of my diverse heritage, including my Lumbruso family line’s Jewish heritage, which I learned about from a recent magazine article and my mother confirmed.”

I know my mom’s religion, political leanings, nursing school stories, her birthday parties as a child, and what her father was like when he was drunk. How does Sen. Allen not know this level of detail with his mother? Did she not raise him? Did she have to hide her religion and culture from Sen. Allen’s famous father? How dysfunctional is this family and what does that say about how he sees the world with his confederate flag and noose in his office? And since the senator is fluent in French, from his mother, my guess is that they are an incredibly weird family.
