This is from more or less memory – I’ve only watched sporadically since it went off the air. I’ve suggested a marathon several times – watching the whole thing in order. My wife’s response?

“But then I’ll know it’s really over!”

I agree 2 is the best season. But I think my order is…

    That’s just me.

5? 5? somebody doesn’t remember Glory’s whiny voice and her annoying minions. You just remember the awesome finale.

6 ahead of 4? 6 ahead of 1?!? the same 6 i saw, where everyone was so depressed all the time? even with a massive allowance for ‘once more with feeling’, this was _not_ an enjoyable season.

  5. Dawn Summers Says:

Ahh, but Mike you are forgetting Seeing Red (tara dies, who wasn’t jonesing for that since season 4?), Two to Go (this was a very big moment for willow and uh oh daddy’s home), Tabula Rasa(anya and giles married ahahahhahaha), as you were(riley comes back; buffy is humuliated), ooh Normal Again (Joyce is back!) Season six had it’s duds, but so did season (internet monster…wtf?) so on a percentage basis six takes it. on sentiment and nostalgia, it would go to one.

  6. Dawn Summers Says:

Oh and placement of 4 really depends on how irritating you found Riley.

    DIE RILEY DIE

I remember the episode he left, by climbing into that helicopter and flying off. I was REALLY rooting for it to explode in midair or crash into a mountain or something.

  8. Dawn Summers Says:

As were we all, asphnxma, as were we all…except possibly mike.

  9. mike Says:

Ouch, dawn. Yes, Riley was probably the worst thing that happened to the show. And yes, the end of season 6- starting with Seeing Red, and encompassing two of the four episodes you cited- was amazing, especially when compared to the finale of season 4 (what the hell was that?) But do you really think Tabula Rasa was a great episode (ooh, Willow’s messing around with magic too much- AGAIN!)? Or Normal Again (ooh, Buffy’s finding a way not to deal with reality- AGAIN!)? And what about Hush? The Riley factor (heh) was a significant downer, I agree, but overall season 4 just felt more like the show when it was in its stride, whereas Season 6 was all angst and whining and filler.

  10. mike Says:

Oh, and how can you give me crap about being a supposed Riley fan when you call As You Were (where they found what must have been the only actress in the world wooden enough to pair with Marc Blucas) one of the highlights of season 6?

  11. Dawn Summers Says:

Touche! But It’s not so much Riley that I like about that episode, I mostly like that it was an episode about Buffy way losing hand in the aftermath of the break-up. I absolutely loved Hush and Oz coming back, which is why sometimes season 4 makes it into my top 5, but sometimes it just doesn’t.

3: Loved the Mayor. And Snyder. And Faith. And that prom episode that always makes me cry. (“Class Protector.” Buffy and Angel dance in formalwear. Giles says Wes has the emotional depth of a blueberry scone.) And the senior class empowerment (Cordy stakes a vamp!). Awesome all around. And I loved the Mayor.

4: Yay, Harmony’s a vamp! I hated Adam as a villain. He eviscerated a little boy. That’s just wrong. And Prof. Walsh? A-nnoy-ing. Hush was genius. Loved Buff’s hand-motion. Oh you know what I mean. Heartbreaking Oz departure. (Although Veruca–bad.) And Spike’s impotence storyline–great.

5: “Glory is Ben! And Ben is Glory!” “Did anyone ever notice that Glory and Ben are never around together?” I love that Spike sees it and no one else does. Awesome finale.

As for 6, I cannot believe that no one mentioned the hilarious nerd antics of the Trio (“we are your arch nemesisesese…”) or the genius of OMWF. That musical ep rocked my face off.

uh, there’s a reason no one mentioned the “hilarious nerd antics”…
