The Lawyer's Guild dinner last year honored Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld, who run the innocence project. I saw a man speak who had been imprisoned for 15 years for a rape he didn't commit. It makes you wonder just how many people have been wrongly executed in this country. I have a visceral reaction against the death penalty, though I understand that other people have a visceral reaction towards it. The fact is though, gut feeling aside, it is awful, awful public policy. It’s a terrible thing.
